14.05.2010 - Starting this year celebrations and divine service on the Day of Slavonic literature and culture will be hold in all eparchies of the Moscow Patriarchate and abroad. Print E-mail
    The Bishop of Baku and Caspian Sea Region Alexander reported at the round table dedicated to the creators of the Slavic alphabet Cyril and Methodius Decree that the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill issued a special Decree about that.
    This holiday will be celebrated in Azerbaijan for the first time on May 24.
    “In a country with a high level of culture and tolerance, there is ample opportunity to celebrate the Day of Slavic Alphabet and Culture. Taking this into consideration we should conduct the celebration in Azerbaijan at the proper level,” said the Russian ambassador in Baku, Vladimir Dorokhin.
    In particular, a conference dedicated to the Apostles of the Slavs will be hold at the Baku Slavic University.

19.05.2010 – Senior government authorities, politicians and public figures from 56 OSCE countries will gather in the capital of Kazakhstan Astana on June 29-30 to discuss the issues of tolerance and non-discrimination in the OSCE region. Print E-mail
          Promoting the issues of tolerance, non-discrimination and intercultural dialogue is one of Kazakhstan’s key priorities, the country presiding in the OSCE in 2010. The conference is aimed at supporting the realization of the respective commitments and values in the framework of the OSCE, the press service of the RK FAM informs.
         Special attention during the conference will be given to the ways to eradicate intolerance and discrimination based on religious and ethnic backgrounds. The participants will discuss the role of legislative structures, law enforcement bodies, education system and mass media in the struggle against public acts of intolerance and promoting understanding through open dialogue.
         The experts in the sphere of tolerance and non-discrimination from the OSCE member countries will share their experience in establishing interethnic and interconfessional dialogue. The special representatives of the OSCE Chairperson-in-office for the issues of tolerance and non-discrimination will be involved in the work of the conference.
Non-governmental organizations will take part in the preparatory meeting on June 28 in Astana and in the work of the conference.
         The official opening of the conference will take place on June 29 in the Peace and Reconciliation Palace. The OSCE Chairperson-in-office - the Secretary of State and the Foreign Affairs Minister of Kazakhstan – Kanat Saudabayev will address the participant at the opening ceremony of the conference. After the introductory part, there will be a ceremony of awarding the winners of the OSCE photography contest on tolerance and non-discrimination.

Kanat Saudabayev: "The Islamic umma has to participate actively in settling most acute problems of today in order to confirm its interests in the new world order of XXI century which is being formed."

 

"Our OIC colleagues highly rate the efforts of the President of our country Nursultan Nazarbayev towards settling the recent conflict and crisis in Kyrgyzstan," the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, State Secretary - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev said on Tuesday, May 18 in the capital city of Tajikistan - Dushanbe.

 

He made this statement at briefing during the 37th session of the Ministerial Council of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

 

Kanat Saudabayev also noted that the Organization partners give Kazakhstan credit for its leadership in non-proliferation of nuclear weapon and prevention of nuclear threat.

 

Kanat Saudabayev also reminded that on Monday he had made a trip to Kabul as the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. According to his words, Kazakhstan is also quite deeply engaged in process of Afghanistan stabilization both through bilateral procedure and as the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

11.05.2010 - Priorities of Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the OIC in 2011 will be presented to the Ministerial Council in Dushanbe Print E-mail
    Kazakhstan will become a member of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) during the 37th session of the Ministerial Council (MC) in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) from the 18th to 20th of May, said Press Secretary of the RK Foreign Ministry Ilyas Omarov on Tuesday.
    In 2011 Kazakhstan will be a Chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
    “Kazakhstan representatives made relevant proposals and initiatives in the resolution of the 37th OIC Ministerial Council which are already reflected in the relevant documents of the OIC,” added Omarov.
According to him, MC format is “an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest, both at the bilateral and multilateral level”.
    Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev is expected to report at the OIC Ministarial Council on the main priorities of Kazakhstan during its chairmanship.

11.05.2010 - Report on religious freedom in Kazakhstan will be Present in June at a Conference in Astana, "Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights". Print E-mail
    Kiell Magne Bondevik former Prime Minister of Norway and the president of the Oslo Center informed about this on Tuesday, May 11.
    K. Bondevik reminded that in December 2009, delegation of the Center already visited Kazakhstan, working on a report on religious freedom in Kazakhstan. Today, he said, the draft report was submitted to the Secretary of State that is to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev. In addition, there were hold meetings with the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, and a meeting with Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan was planned. “Freedom of religion is a very important human right in accordance with Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Kazakhstan in this regard has a special responsibility in connection with the chairmanship of the OSCE”, K.M. Bondevik said to the reporters.
    Representatives of the Centre will come to Astana once again to participate in the Conference on Religious Tolerance, which will be held on the 29th-30th of June. “We will present our final report there”, concluded the President of the Oslo Center.
