03.06.2010 – Nazarbaev is the Founding Father of Kazakhstan — S.Danbar-Johnson, the Representative of “International Gerald Tribune” Print E-mail
    Nursultan Nazarbaev is the Founding Father of Kazakhstan in real meaning of these words, - Steven Danbar-Johnson, the publisher and the representative of “International Gerald Tribune”, declared at the IV Kazakhstan Investment Summit.
    He stressed in his speech that “namely N.Nazarbaev led the country through the tortures of independence birth refusing from the heritage of Soviet Union with huge nuclear potential. He witnessed difficulties but also ways of solution for current problems.”
    Steven Danbar-Johnson said Nursultan Nazarbaev worked diligent to improve Kazakhstan living standards, change the economy, form new middle class and provide harmony and stability in ethnic variety.
According to his words Kazakhstan proves its peaceful initiatives by its OSCE chairmanship.

01.06.2010 – The Leaders of Russian and Constantinopolitan Churches Discussed the Preparation for the Call of All-Orthodox Council Print E-mail
    The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill and the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew discussed the preparation for the call of All-Orthodox Council. The Patriarch Bartholomew informed about it in his interview to “Russia-24” TV channel yesterday when summarizing his 10-day visit to Russia, ITAR-TASS informed.
    "We decided to speed up the process of the call of Holy Great Council of Orthodox Church", the Patriarch Bartholomew said, specifying the fact “this is the most significant task for Orthodox world” at the moment.
   Pursuant to the Patriarch Bartholomew, he stimulated personally the activation of preparation process 19 years ago when he become the leader of Constantinople Church. Specific terms of All-Orthodox Council are not declared yet. However, it is assumed that the Council will be held already next year. "We will complete to consider the topics by the end of the year or by the beginning of the next year", the Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his hope.
    "The agenda is already defined at the moment, including ten topics", he noted. Some of them are: "how the proclamation of autocephalia or autonomy of the Church will happen", question of "diptych" (i.e. hierarchy of the Orthodox Churches), as well as the question of "fast".
    The Ecumenical Patriarch did not exclude that the topics of All-Orthodox Council may include not only inner church questions but also the problem of modern civilization, ecology particularly.
"The Church tries to keep up with the times not sacrificing the doctrine but searching the solutions for the current calls", the bishop of the Constantinople Church noted.
    Special committee on environment problems was established two years ago by “the initiative of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople studying the environmental problems for many years”. "Eight symposia with participation of the representatives of all the Orthodox Churches and the representatives of other religions to establish rapport with the representatives of the Church and science" were held, the Patriarch Bartholomew informed.
    The Patriarch of Constantinople completed 10-day visit to Russia by the trip to the shrine of St. Petersburg. He jointly with the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill visited Tsarskoye Selo. The Amber Room attracted especial interest of the Patriarch Bartholomew.
    The official title of the leader of Constantinople Orthodox Church is "His Holiness Archbishop of Constantinople - New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch". Historically the most ancient Constantinople Church takes priority among independent 15 Orthodox Churches in the world.

20.05.2010 – The influence of Islam on democracy will be discussed in Bishkek Print E-mail
    The political process in Kyrgyzstan with the account of religious influence will be discussed at the round table in Bishkek on May 24, the “Religion, Law and Policy” Kyrgyz Research Center informs.
    The event is aimed at determining the level of Muslim community participation in the political processes in Kyrgyzstan and define the integrating approaches to the “harmonization of religion and politics in a  modern secular state, CA-news reports.
    “The political situation inside the country caused by the possible fomentation of an interethnic conflict, defines the framework of the new problem, where religion could be the key tool for solving many controversial issues, - the Center says in its commentary.
    The Center representatives consider that “in conditions of the sharp political crisis and the growing protest potential in country threatening the territorial integrity, stability and development of Kyrgyzstan, the ęîíńňđóęňčâíîĺ participation of the Muslim community is regarded as one of the efficient mechanisms of the civil society consolidation.

17/05/2010 - Presentation of the book of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill "Freedom and responsibility: in search of harmony will take place at the Catholic University in Milan on Monday Print E-mail
    The book will be presented by the head of the largest diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, Archbishop of Milan, Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi. As expected, the Chairperson of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Volokolamsky Hilarion, the head of the mentioned above university Lorenzo Ornago and President of the Moscow State University of Foreign Affairs Anatoly Torkunov will take part in the ceremony.

    Italian translation of the book was released at the Vatican Publishing House. Introduction to the book was written by the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, as reported by Catholic News Agency “Zenit”.

    The book “Freedom and responsibility: in search of harmony” was published in Russia in 2008 in time of the current primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad.

    The book is a collection of speeches and articles from different years combined on the theme of the Christian understanding of human rights and freedoms.

    “The author successfully argues with the representatives of neo-liberal camp, seeking to exclude Christian values from the context of modern society. He convincingly demonstrates ineptitude and futility of attempts to impose a single behavioral standard that focuses primarily on the unlimited freedom of the individual on members of different cultures and tradition,” the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate reported.

    The book prompts reflection on the future, search for unity of those who are not indifferent to the fate of mankind. Ideas outlined in pages of the book discover the prospect of serving the Church in the XXI century.


14.05.2010 - Starting this year celebrations and divine service on the Day of Slavonic literature and culture will be hold in all eparchies of the Moscow Patriarchate and abroad. Print E-mail
    The Bishop of Baku and Caspian Sea Region Alexander reported at the round table dedicated to the creators of the Slavic alphabet Cyril and Methodius Decree that the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill issued a special Decree about that.
    This holiday will be celebrated in Azerbaijan for the first time on May 24.
    “In a country with a high level of culture and tolerance, there is ample opportunity to celebrate the Day of Slavic Alphabet and Culture. Taking this into consideration we should conduct the celebration in Azerbaijan at the proper level,” said the Russian ambassador in Baku, Vladimir Dorokhin.
    In particular, a conference dedicated to the Apostles of the Slavs will be hold at the Baku Slavic University.
