It was promised by the President Nursultan Nazarbayev responding to questions from reporters at a news conference at the conclusion of the OSCE summit in Astana on Friday.
“In June 2011 Kazakhstan will take over the chairmanship of the OIC. I suppose that interfaith, intercultural disagreement existing in the world is ambiguous. As you know, some people speak of a clash of civilizations. I do not agree with it. This is not a fatal moment, because none of the Holy books preaches murder, terrorism, or something like that”, - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
It is time for heads of religions to sit down at the negotiating table for an honest and open dialogue, said the President of Kazakhstan, who has proposed the area of Astana for this meeting- the Congress of World and Traditional Religions. “We have an opportunity, and I’ll try to make the OIC helpful in achieving such a dialogue, however it is not a religious organization”, - concluded Nursultan Nazarbayev.
