Novosty-Kazakhstan News Agency - On the 29th and 30th of June in Astana politicians and public figures from 56 OSCE participating states on the OSCE high level Conference Tolerance and Non-discrimination will discuss the problems of tolerance and non-discrimination, as reported by press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. “Advancement of tolerance, non-discrimination and intercultural dialogue is one of the key priorities of Kazakhstan as the country chairing at the OSCE in 2010. The purpose of the Conference is to promote the implementation of the commitments and values within the OSCE,” as was reported on Monday. As noted in the press release, special attention during the Conference will be given to methods of combating religious and ethnical intolerance and discrimination. Participants will discuss the roles of legislative and law enforcement bodies, educational system and media in the struggle against the public display of intolerance and promotion of mutual understanding through open dialogue. In addition, experts in the field of tolerance and non-discrimination of the OSCE participating states will share their experience in establishing mechanisms of interethnic and interfaith dialogue. Special Representatives of the OSCE Chairman on issues of tolerance and non-discrimination will take part in the work of the Conference. “Nongovernmental organizations will participate in the preparatory meeting in Astana on the 28th of June, as well as in the Conference. Official opening of the Conference will be held on the 29th of June. Awarding ceremony for participants of the OSCE photo contest on the theme of tolerance and non-discrimination will take place after the official part,” as stated in a press release. |
