Night of Determination (Arabic لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ‎‎), also Laylat al-Qadr, Night of al-Qadr, Night of Qadr – a holiday in Islam celebrated on the 27th night of Ramadan in honour of opening to Muhammad the first surah of Koran in 610 in cave Hira of Jabal an-Nur mountain.
On this night, according to Islamic sources, angel Jabrail appeared before praying Muhammad, and pointing to the scroll, said: “Recite!” (Koran!).
The Night of Determination is celebrated at the end of the ninth month of Ramadan. In the Night of Determination it is customary to ask God’s forgiveness for committed sins and read Koran. It is believed that this night fates of people for the next year are written. Therefore, Muslims are encouraged to celebrate the Night of Determination with prayers.

Mohammed, who was chosen by Allah his envoy and prophet, was born in 570 (Gregorian calendar) and lost his parents early. He did not study, from an early age he began to work. Up to 40 years he lived like all the Makkah habitants, he was known among them for the exceptional honesty and good conduct, reliability and was vested with confidence. He loved to seclude himself in the mountains surrounding Makkah, close to the caves and meditate.
On the twenty-seventh day of the month of Ramadan, 610 on the mountain Jabal al-Nur in the cave of Hira, someone in human look appeared before Muhammad and told Allah’s words: “Read! In the name of your Lord who created a man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is generous, who taught Kalams, taught man what he knew”. It was archangel Jibrail, the envoy of Allah. Muhammad repeated the words after him, and the angel disappeared.
So Muhammad learned from Jabrail that God had chosen him as his prophet. Thus began the life of the holy book of Islam on earth.
After the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Allah did not send his prophets to mankind, did not pass his holy scriptures. The final approval of monotheism – belief in one God and cessation of deification of idols and worshiping – is related to the Koran.

There is a whole tradition of antheming the night al-Qadr by the Russian poets. First and foremost, we should recall the poem of Ivan Bunin “Night of Al-Qadr” with an epigraph from the Koran: “On this night the angels descend from heaven”.
Night of Al-Qadr.
Came together, merged the peaks
And up to heaven raised their turbans.
Muezzin sang. Ice floes are still growing crimson.
But out of gorges, valleys the darkness cold is breathing.
Night of Al-Qadr.
Through the dark mountain slopes
The clouds still descend and flake.
Muezzin sang.
Before the great Throne
The Diamond River
Already flowing, steaming.
And Jabrail - silently and invisibly -
Goes around sleeping world.
God, bless
The invisible way of the holy pilgrim
And give your land the night of peace and love!
Ramadan is the ninth and sacred month of the Muslim lunar year, during which the fasting is prescribed, this year it came on August 11. Therefore, the festive Night of determination is from 5 to 6 September. Every year on this night Allah makes decisions about the fate of each person, given his wishes expressed in prayer. Therefore, the majority Muslims in the night on 27 of Ramadan comes to the mosque, where their prayers uplift to Allah, and recite the Koran. If for every letter of the Koran read at other times one reward (Savab) is given, in the month of Ramadan – from ten to one thousand, then in the night of Laylat al-Qadr – 30 thousand rewards for one read letter from the Holy Koran.
