                 Today within the framework of the 10th meeting of the Secretariat held on 20-21 June in Astana, in the Palace of Peace and Accord, the Chairman of the Senate of the RK Parliament, the Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions Kairat Mami conducted several bilateral meetings.
                During the meeting with the General Secretary of the Ministerial Conference of Islam and Invocation (Saudi Arabia) Majed Abdul Aziz at-Turki, K.Mami highly appreciated the contribution of the Saudi side into the activity of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
              “Kazakhstan considers the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a strategic partner in the Arabic and Moslem world” – the speaker highlighted.
             Regarding the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the speaker underlined that “our country intends to bring its OSCE experience into OCI, to work on consolidation of mutual understanding and cooperation between the West and the Moslem world”.
            Important issues of the development of global inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue were discussed in the meeting with the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Chinese Association of Buddhists (China) Pu Zhen.
             K.Mami, having expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for supporting the initiative of Kazakhstan to hold the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, noted that “the potential of bilateral cooperation and friendly ties between Kazakhstan and China is enriched with the joint promotion of inter-civilization and inter-religion dialogue”.
             Later in the day, K.Mami held bilateral meetings with the representative of Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Meir Danino, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for church-society relations, Georgy Roshchin, the representative of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue of the Holy See, Christian Troll, the Principal of Egyptian University of Islamic Culture “Nur Mubarak” in Almaty, Mahmud Hijazi, in which the further promotion of the Kazakh Inter-Religious Forum was discussed.
