MINUTES OF THE EIGHTEENTH SESSION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF THE CONGRESS OF THE LEADERS OF WORLD AND TRADITIONAL RELIGIONS Print E-mail
The XVIII Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions presided over by H.E. Dariga NAZARBAYEVA, Chair of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on September 18, 2019, in Nur-Sultan. The following agenda was approved during the Eighteenth Session of the Secretariat of the Congress:
Priority areas of cooperation of the Secretariat of the Congress with international organizations/centers to promote the goals and objectives of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
1. Exchange of opinions on the outcomes of the VI Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and perspectives on the activities of the Secretariat.
2. Proposal of agenda items of VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2021 (Congress's key topics, titles of Panel Sessions, date determination).
3. Determination of the date and place of the XIX Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
4. Adoption of the Minutes of the XVIII Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

There was a fruitful and constructive exchange of views on all agenda items during the XVIII Session of the Secretariat.
All members of the Secretariat participated in addresses and discussions on the above issues.

The participants of the XVIII Secretariat expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the Kazakh side for the contribution and efforts made to implement the common values and principles of the VI Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and the main provisions of its Declaration, as well as the establishing of the N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Dialogue - the Bearer of the "Astana Congress's Spirit".
All members of the Secretariat were involved actively in the discussions of the Agenda's issues.

The following decisions have been made based on the suggestions of the participants of the Eighteenth Session of the Secretariat of the Congress:
1. To take into account the proposals of the participants of the Session on the outcome of the VI Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, as well as to further advance the goals and objectives of the Secretariat.
N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Dialogue to systematize and generalize these proposals, prepare relevant recommendations.
2. To strengthen cooperation of the Secretariat of the Congress with authoritative international organizations/centers specializing in the dialogue of religions, cultures and civilizations, on a platform for the collective promotion of the goals and objectives of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
3. To render all possible assistance to the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Dialogue on the establishment and development of cooperation with leading international public and authoritative religious organizations of the world.
4. By March 1, 2020, members of the Secretariat should send their proposals in writing on the key topic of the Plenary and the topics of the four Panel Sessions of the VII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions to the headquarters of the Secretariat of the Congress - N. Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Dialogue.
5. To entrust the Working Group of the Secretariat of the Congress and the N.Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-Civilizational Dialogue to summarize the proposals on key topics of the Plenary and Panel Sessions of the VII Congress and submit them to the Secretariat three (3) months before the XIX Session.
6. In order to effectively and efficiently prepare the Secretariat Session, hold on June 2, 2020 the next Meeting of the Working Group of the Secretariat of the Congress in the city of Nur-Sultan.
7. Hold the XIX Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on June 3, 2020 in Nur-Sultan.
8. To determine the preliminary date of the Seventh Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on June 15-16, 2021.
9. Inform members of the Council of Religious Leaders and other prominent religious leaders of the decisions taken.
