William Vendli, Doctor of Philosophy, served as the General Secretary of the World Conferences of Religions for Peace (Religions for Peace) from 1994.

Based on respect to religious differences, "Religion for Peace" is the biggest multi-religious organization in the world, completely aimed at promoting cooperation amongst the religious communities on (solving) issues, which represent concern.

In the "Religion for Peace" he is a member of the Board that consists of prominent international religious leaders. He also serves as the chief executive officer of the organization controlling the international secretariat in North America, Europe, the Balkans, West and East Africa and Asia. He coordinates international activity and projects of the Inter-Religious Councils of the "Religion for Peace" in 50 countries all over the world.

Under the leadership of Dr. Vendli the "Religion for Peace" and its local branches acted as intermediaries in the severe conflicts in the Balkans, West Africa and Horn Africa, supported and more actively involved religious communities in the cooperation activities on provision of support to more than 12 million orphans, whose parents died from HIV and AIDS in Africa.

In the activity of the "Religion for Peace" under leadership of Dr. Vendli it is worth mentioning the establishment of the Global Network of the Organizations of Religious Women. The network promotes the multi-religious cooperation amongst the women's organizations and sends their leadership in the action programs of the "Religion for Peace".

Dr. Vendli is a theologian and has worked the professor and the dean of the graduate schools in theology. He often gives lectures in the academic environment, UN and NGO. He has several awards for his contribution into religion and protection of human rights; he is a member of the councils in several organizations from arts to peacemaking. He has the PhD in systematic theology from Fordham University and the Master's Degree in humanitarian sciences on religious studies from Theological School in Maricnol.    

World Conference of the Religions for Peace

The World Conference of the Religions for Peace (Religions for Peace) is the largest international coalition of the world religions, which dedicated themselves to peace promotion. It was founded in 1970 in Kyoto.
